Maton GE 500 Special Hollowbody Electric Guitar Vintage 1980 Pre-Owned
Here's a very rare piece for the vintage Maton collectors! This Maton Goldline GE 500 Special has been well played over the years is likely the final GE 500 produced with serial number 167 and date stamped to 1980.
This guitar absolutely sings with its two vintage Maton humbuckers with the neck pickup reading a ~7.92kΩ. and the bridge pickup reading ~8.04kΩ. The slim maple neck feels great in the hand and the tortoiseshell bound ebony fretboard is a great touch.
This guitar is in player grade condition with the top and back being refinished in white, the original finish remains on the sides. There is also a previously routed control plate on the back which has been glued back in place.
Most of this guitars original hardware is intact including the machine heads, pickups, potentiometers, bridge and tailpiece minus the tremolo arm. It is playing very well with a nice low action.
The original knobs have been previously replaced with Gibson style speed knobs and the gold plating on the hardware has oxidised significantly over the years.
The production number of the GE 500 is said to be only 69 making this a very rare piece perfect for the collector wanting a player grade instrument or one which they could restore.
